A rock style girl's group from Japan. Its major debut was in 2013. When Miku Kobato did a part time job at a maid cafe in Akihabara, she thought up the idea of forming a band. It belongs to the talent management company, Platinum Passport, which also has PASSPO and MISA.

 

The members are:

1) Saiki born 8th Feb in Yamanashi - main vocal

Love singing since she heard Namie Amuro

2) MIKU/Miku Kobato born 21st Oct  in Kumamoto - main vocal and guitar

Her favorite singers include Seiko Matsuda, Ringo Shina, Yoshimi Tendo

3) Kanami/Kanami Tohno born 28th Sept in Kanagawa - guitar

Started playing the piano since 3 years old. Composer of the band

4) Akane/Akane Hirose born 14th Dec in Hyogo - drum

Started playing the piano in Kindergarten 

5) Misa born 15th Oct in Okayama - base 

Started playing the piano since 3 years old. 

 

In 2013 July Kanami, Akane and Misa come to gather to the call from Miku. In August Saiki also joined the group to be Band-Maid.

 

In 2016 invited by Sakura-Con in Seattle, US the band did a gig for the first time outside Japan.  In 2018 the band accounted to change its name to "Maiko Band" to have a concept of Maiko and hard rock but it was turned out to be an April joke.

 

They are as popular as BabyMetal.

Outside Japan, where can you see them live?

 

On 9th Oct, 2016 the band did the first live outside of Japan. The location was at Mexico City SALA. There were more than 1000 audiences. The first song was "Real Existence". 

In 2016 the band did gigs in Uderworld, UK, MTC, Germany, Headcrash, Germany, La boule Noire, France, Hydrozagadka, Poland, LUCCA COMIC, Italy, Manga del Barcelona, Spain and Music Zone@E-MAX, HK.

 

Band-Maid will go on a world tour in 2018.

In Nov Germany, France, UK and several countries to be in plan
